Apartamento C. DIPUTACIÓN,
Barcelona
We were contacted by Richard, an English photographer, based in Paris, who had just bought a home in Barcelona that needed a total renovation. The house was located in a building about 100 years old in the Eixample of Barcelona. The apartment, of about 80 m2, was not original, it had undergone some very simple renovations that had eliminated any possibility of taking advantage of old materials or elements with character. The program was very clear, the client was looking for a result that was aesthetically beautiful, calm, bright, and very comfortable, for the numerous occasions he came to work in Barcelona. The original location of the windows and drains helped us make the decision to place the bathroom and the "fish tank" in the room near the entrance, and leave natural light for the rest of the house (living room, dining room and office) the views of a typical Eixample block patio. As for the coverings, we decided to keep the existing wooden beams and their iron reinforcements visible, as a unique element of the property. And to counteract so much plot on the ceiling, we decided to choose continuous and calm materials for the rest, punctuated by the intense green color of the sofa, the oak wood of the closet, and the chocolate brown ceramic of the kitchen.
